Porter today announced the conviction of an online sexual predator arrested during the Attorney General’s sting in Highland Heights, Kentucky in April, 2007. David L. Quist of Ft. Thomas, Kentucky was convicted of one count of attempted unlawful transaction with a minor, a Class C felony, in connection with his solicitation of what he thought was a 13-year-old girl for sex.

  Attorney General Jack Conway announced today that Creative Water Solutions will cease misleading advertising and pay $2,550 to 51 consumers who participated in a home demonstration after being promised that they would receive $100 in “free gas” coupons. The advertising was brought to the attention of the Attorney General by the Better Business Bureau of Central and Eastern Kentucky.

  Attorney General Jack Conway announced today the settlement of a multi-state civil law enforcement action against Barr Pharmaceuticals. The lawsuit, joined by 33 other states and the District of Columbia, charged Barr Pharmaceuticals and Warner Chilcott with antitrust violations that have prevented generic versions of the prescription oral contraceptive Ovcon® from reaching the marketplace.

  Attorney General Jack Conway today announced that he and the bankruptcy trustee for Decker College, Inc. have reached a settlement and tendered an agreed order for approval by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court that will provide relief for thousands of students in the college’s Associate of Applied Science Degree programs. Those programs include carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) trades. The settlement benefits trade program students who enrolled in Decker after April 1, 2004.

  Attorney General Jack Conway today announced that the Commonwealth of Kentucky will receive more than $1.4 million as part of two separate global settlements totaling $649 million with Merck & Co., Inc. The settlements involve 49 states, the District of Columbia and the federal government. Merck is the manufacturer of the drugs Zocor, Vioxx, and Pepcid.
