Governor Beshear Appoints Member to Historic Properties Advisory Commission

FRANKFORT, KY – Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear has appointed Sally Willis Meigs to serve as a member of the Historic Properties Advisory Commission.

Meigs has served as vice-chairman of the Kentucky Heritage Council under seven governors. She has also been director of the Franklin County Heart Fund and a member of the University of Kentucky Historic Preservation Advisory Board. Meigs and her husband, Henry, reside in Louisville.

The appointment replaces Maria Roach, who has resigned. Meigs shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Aug. 11, 2008.

The Historic Properties Advisory Commission consists of 14 gubernatorial appointees. The commission provides continuing attention to the maintenance, furnishings and repairs of the Executive Mansion, the old Governor’s Mansion and the State Capitol.
