FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Steve Beshear has made the following appointments to the Kentucky boards and commissions:

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Private Investigators to serve for terms expiring Aug. 15, 2010.

  • Kathryn H. Witt, of Lexington, is the Fayette County sheriff. She represents county sheriffs. The appointment replaces William D. Witten, whose term has expired.
     
  • Edward L. Mercer, of Louisville, is a self-employed private investigator. He represents private investigators. The appointment replaces Michael J. Ober, whose term has expired.
     
  • Daniel A. Triplett, of Owensboro, is a self-employed private investigator. He represents private investigators. The appointment replaces Rich A. Hessig, whose term has expired.

The governor has also reappointed Mary Linda Pedersen to serve as a member of the board.

  • Mary Pedersen, of Frankfort, is the chief information officer of the state’s Office of Homeland Security. She represents citizens at large. Pedersen shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 15, 2010.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Glenda Carole Brown as the Property Valuation Administrator for Gallatin County.

  • Glenda Carole Brown, of Warsaw, is currently the deputy PVA for Gallatin County. Brown shall serve until the general election on Nov. 4, 2008.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Kentucky Board of Certification of Fee-Based Pastoral Counselors.

  • Seniora Ann Burdette, of Georgetown, is the retired program coordinator of the Governor’s Office of Minority Empowerment. She represents citizens at large. The appointment replaces Patricia M. Bingham, whose term has expired. Burdette shall serve for a term expiring Sept. 22, 2010.
     
  • Joe Bob Pierce, of Owensboro, is a pastoral counselor at Sunrise Children’s Services. He represents pastoral counselors. The appointment replaces Suzanne M. Coyle, whose term has expired. Pierce shall serve for a term expiring Sept. 22, 2010.
     
  • Joan Leslie Clagett, of Elizabethtown, is self-employed pastoral counselor. She represents pastoral counselors. The appointment replaces Richard D. Underwood, whose term has expired. Clagett shall serve for a term expiring Sept. 22, 2009.
     
  • Thomas M. Holbrook, of Berea, is a pastoral counselor for Sunrise Children’s Services. He represents pastoral counselors. The appointment replaces Geraldine Craddock, whose term has expired. Holbrook shall serve for a term expiring Sept. 22, 2009.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Kentucky Sports Authority.

  • Charles Montgomery Haddaway IV, of Pleasure Ridge Park, is the executive director of the Kentucky Recreation & Park Society. He represents at large members. Haddaway shall serve for a term expiring Jan. 4, 2012.
     
  • Amy C. Cardwell, of Bowling Green, is the sports marketing director for the Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. She represents at large members. The appointment replaces Lawrence J. Bisig, whose term has expired. Cardwell shall serve for a term expiring Jan. 4, 2012.
     
  • Michael A. Pitino, of Louisville, is an investment banker for Alliance Group. He represents the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission. The appointment replaces Donna P. Smith, whose term has expired. Pitino shall serve for a term expiring Jan. 4, 2012.
     
  • Charles Frederick Sutterlin, of Louisville, is an attorney and the owner of PRG Investments. He represents at large members. The appointment replaces Jerry Carroll, whose term has expired. Sutterlin shall serve for a term expiring Jan. 4, 2012.
     
  • Paul N. Rogers, of Louisville, is a sportscaster at WHAS Radio. He represents at large members. The appointment replaces Wayne M. Martin, who has resigned. Rogers shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Jan. 4, 2011.
     
  • James Mark Hill, of Louisville, is the executive director of the Kentucky Golf Association and the Kentucky Section of the PGA of America. He represents at large members. The appointment replaces Myra Van Hoose Blackwelder, who has resigned. Hill shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Jan. 4, 2011.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the State Labor Relations Board.

  • James H. Wilkins Jr., of Louisville, is the vice-president of the Louisville Professional Fire Fighters, Local 345. Wilkins will chair the commission. The appointment replaces Jeffery R. Taylor, whose term has expired. Wilkins shall serve for a term expiring April 24, 2009.
     
  • Barry L. Carter, of Kevil, is a firefighter for the Paducah Fire Department. The appointment replaces Paul A. Routon, whose term has expired. Carter shall serve for a term expiring April 24, 2011.
     
  • Mollie H. Bowers, of Walton, is an arbitrator and mediator for Dispute Resolution Services. The appointment replaces Jim D. Skaggs, whose term has expired. Bowers shall serve for a term expiring April 24, 2012.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Land Stewardship and Conservation Task Force.

  • Elizabeth Rudd Bennett, of Louisville, is an attorney at Graddy & Associates. She represents members at large.
     
  • Douglas L. Wampler, of Prospect, is president and executive director of Oldham Ahead, Inc. He represents members at large.
     
  • W. H. Brown, of Bagdad, is the owner of W.H. Brown & Associates, Consulting Engineers and Land Surveyors. He represents members at large.
     
  • C.V. Bennett III, of Harlan, is an employee at Cumberland Elkhorn Coal. He represents members at large.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Hazard Community and Technical College Nominating Commission to serve for terms expiring April 15, 2012.

  • Vera Hopper, of Hazard, is a nurse practitioner for the Hazard Clinic. Hopper will chair the commission. The appointment replaces Jerry L. McIntosh, whose term has expired.
     
  • Greg R. Baker, of Hazard, is a dentist for the Primary Care Centers of Eastern Kentucky. The appointment replaces Monte D. Gross, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed J.D. Nichols as a member of the Louisville/Jefferson County Air Board.

  • J.D. Nichols, of Louisville, is the chairman of NTS Corporation, a real estate development company.

Gov. Beshear has designated Virginia L. Grulke as chair of the Kentucky Recreational Trails Authority.

  • Virginia L. Grulke, of Lexington, is the executive director of the Kentucky Horse Council. She represents the Kentucky Horse Council. Grulke shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 22, 2012.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Hazel M. Combs to serve as a member of the Parole Board.

  • Hazel M. Combs, of Lexington, is a retired deputy commissioner of Community Services and Local Facilities for the state’s Department of Corrections. The appointment replaces Billy G. Wilkey, who has resigned. Combs shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending June 30, 2012.
