Hunter Education Course to Be Offered at Rough River Dam State Park

FALLS OF ROUGH, Ky. – Be prepared for the coming hunting season by taking a hunter education course at Rough River Dam State Resort Park Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 18 – 20, 2008. 

Topics to be covered in the three-day course include firearm identification, proper use of ammunition, ethics, wildlife identification and much more.

Classes will be held on Thursday and Friday from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm and Saturday from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. The shooting portion of the course will be held a few miles from the park.

This course is for ages 9 and above. No registration is necessary and the course is free. Orange cards will be issued to those who pass the course.

Beautiful lake views enhance the appeal of Rough River Dam Lodge. Each of the 40 guest rooms features private patio or balcony overlooking the lake. Rooms are available by late afternoon. Check-out is by noon, Central Time.

Facilities at Rough River also include cottages, a campground and the Grayson’s Landing Restaurant. An airstrip and adjacent air camp provide accommodations for aviators who visit the park. Other activities include hiking, fishing, boating, swimming and golf.

The resort is located on KY 79. From the Western Kentucky Parkway, exit on KY 79 north from Caneyville or exit on KY 259 N at Leitchfield and travel to the park via KY 54 from Leitchfield. Driving south, take KY 79 south from Hardinsburg and US 60.
