Nominations are being accepted for the American History Teacher of the Year, an initiative of the Preserve America program sponsored by the White House. For 2008, the award is open to any full- time middle or high school American history teacher (the 2009 contest will be for elementary American history teachers), and nominations can be made by a department head, school director, or principal. The winning teacher will receive a $1,000 cash prize, an American History Teacher of the Year plaque, and a collection of resource materials for his or her school library.
