The center’s lobby exhibit, “The Founding of the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea,” shows the history of how the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea came about, from the April 1996 tornado, through meetings, planning, construction and the grand opening in July 2003. A pictorial showcase of highlights from the past 10 years accompanies this visual history.
These free, guided exhibit tours will be led by Kentucky Artisan Center staff, who will talk about the exhibit, the artists and individual works. Staff will answer questions about the techniques and various processes used in the objects featured. This tour will be given at 11 a.m. and again at 2 p.m.
In addition, on Nov. 9, Laverne Zabielski, of Monticello, will demonstrate the Japanese fabric dyeing technique of Shibori from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the center.
