FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State Parks Commissioner Elaine Walker announced today that Misty Wheeler is the new park manager at General Butler State Resort Park at Carrollton.


Wheeler is a native of Carrollton and spent the last 11 years working for the Carroll County Board of Education as the coordinator of the 21st Century Community Learning Center-The Lighthouse and the Champions for a Drug Free Carroll County. She is a graduate of Northern Kentucky University, where she studied business administration and psychology. Wheeler also worked at several other jobs at the park, including as a lifeguard, tour guide and recreation assistant during college.


General Butler State Resort Park has a lodge, cottages, Two Rivers Restaurant, conference center, campground, golf course and recreational lake, and is the site of the Butler-Turpin State Historic House.


Wheeler began at the park March 1.





The Kentucky State Park System is composed of 49 state parks plus an interstate park shared with Virginia. The Department of Parks, an agency of the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet, operates 17 resort parks with lodges -- more than any other state.
