TJ Carlson, the KRS Chief Investment Officer (CIO) since November 2010, has tendered his resignation effective December 31, 2013. Mr. Carlson has accepted a position as CIO with the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) in Austin, Texas. TMRS is a public retirement system with more than 185,000 members in 849 Texas cities and has assets of approximately $22 billion. According to KRS Investment Committee Chair Dr. Dan Bauer, "TJ will be greatly missed, but we certainly wish him well as he undertakes this new opportunity. He has done a tremendous job for KRS since assuming the CIO position almost three years ago." KRS Board of Trustees Chair, Randy Overstreet agreed that "TJ has made significant improvements in the operation and performance of the KRS investment program during his time with KRS." "We greatly appreciate his service to KRS, its members and the Commonwealth." The KRS Investment Committee and Board of Trustees will decide in the near future on the process to be followed in filling the CIO position.
