Kentucky Department of Corrections Deputy Commissioner Kim Potter-Blair today announced the promotion of Kerry Mears to Corrections Program Administrator in the Reentry Branch.  She assumed her new duties on Nov. 16.

 

Mears, who served in the United States Air Force, was stationed in Tokyo where she served as a senior airman. She was honorably discharged in 1994. She started her career with the Division of Probation and Parole as an officer in District 19 in November 2008. She transferred to District 12 in February 2011. While working for the division Mears assisted in the development of the PORTAL reentry program in District 12. She also taught motivational interviewing at both in-service and basic academy training. In January 2012, Mears was promoted to Assistant Supervisor of District 19 in Louisville.

 

Mears is a 2007 graduate of the University of North Texas where she earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
