Governor Beshear has appointed James A. "JT" Fulkerson from a list of nominees submitted by the Kentucky League of Cities and Joseph L. Hardesty from a list of nominees submitted by the Kentucky School Boards Association. A third new position remains to be filled from a list of nominees submitted by the Kentucky Association of Counties.
Mr. Fulkerson is a retired CERS member from Owensboro, Kentucky. He served for 30 years in various finance positions with the City of Owensboro and retired in 2012 as that city’s Director of Finance and Support Services. He was active throughout his career in the Kentucky Government Finance Officers Association was a past President and Treasurer of that organization.
Mr. Hardesty is currently a member of the Louisville law firm of Stites & Harbison, PLLC. He handles complex litigation for clients of the law firm with a particular emphasis on representing clients in construction and complex litigation. Prior to joining Stites & Harbison, Mr. Hardesty served as Senior Attorney for Bellsouth Corporation where he handled litigation and regulatory matters. He served on the Jefferson County Board of Education from 1990-2012 and was Chair of the Board in 1997, 1998 and 2004-2008. In 2008, he was named the Outstanding School Board Member for Kentucky by the Kentucky School Board Association.
Both Mr. Fulkerson and Mr. Hardesty were officially sworn in at the KRS Board of Trustees educational retreat in Louisville on July 25.
