Division of Probation and Parole acting director Michael Bolcas today announced the promotion of Angela Howard to the position of assistant supervisor of District 8. Howard assumed her new duties Aug 16.

District 8 encompasses Bath, Breathitt, Clark, Estill, Lee, Madison, Menifee, Montgomery, Owsley, Powell, Rowan and Wolfe counties. The district office is located in Mt. Sterling with field offices in Campton, Irvine, Morehead and Richmond.

“Angela Howard has taken on a variety of job duties throughout her career and has done them all well,” said Bolcas. “I expect she will do no less as she transitions to a supervisory role.”
Howard began her career with the Department of Corrections in 2002 after transferring from the Cabinet for Families and Children, where she served as a social worker. She was initially hired as a probation and parole officer and assigned to Greenup County in District 8. In 2005, she transferred to Montgomery County where she first supervised a regular case load and later supervised a sex offender case load. In 2007, she transferred again, this time moving to Rowan County, where she has remained until this promotion.

Howard is a 1998 graduate of Morehead State University where she earned a bachelor of sociology with an emphasis in criminology. She is also the recipient of the 2010 DOC achievement award for District 8.

Angela Howard currently resides in Rowan County with her husband, Scott, and two children.
