Division of Probation and Parole acting director Michael Bolcas today announced the promotion of Tim Horn to the position of assistant supervisor of District 8. Horn assumed his new duties Aug 16.
District 8 encompasses Bath, Breathitt, Clark, Estill, Lee, Madison, Menifee, Montgomery, Owsley, Powell, Rowan and Wolfe counties. The district office is located in Mt. Sterling with field offices in Campton, Irvine, Morehead and Richmond.
“Tim Horn has proven to be a solid and stable presence in his position as a probation & parole officer,” said Bolcas. “I know he will be an excellent addition to our management team.”
Horn began his career with the Department of Corrections in 2004 as a probation & parole officer in Madison County. During his tenure with the department, he has performed numerous duties including supervising a regular caseload, presentence investigation preparation and serving as a member of the 25th Judicial Circuit Drug Court Team. He is currently a District 8 firearms instructor, security threat group coordinator and back-up re-entry liaison. He has completed basic training in Moral Reconation Therapy and “Train the Trainer,” and began teaching classes to probation and parole officers during annual in-service training.
Horn is a 1992 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University where he earned a bachelor of science degree in corrections and juvenile services. He has also been selected to participate in the 2013 Commissioner’s Executive Leadership Development Program.
Horn is an active member of the Madison County Fraternal Order of Police No. 47 and is a past vice president of KSPOA.
