FRANKFORT, Ky. – Governor Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Saturday, March 1 in honor of a Kentucky soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

According to the Department of Defense, Pfc. Joshua A. Gray, 21, of Van Lear, Ky., died Feb. 10, in Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, from a non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.

Funeral services for Pfc. Gray will be held on March 1 at 11 a.m. Eastern time at Johnson County Middle School in Paintsville, Ky. Interment will follow at Highlands Memorial Park in Staffordsville, Ky. Gov. Beshear encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.
