FRANKFORT, Ky. — Teachers interested in partnering with professional artists to incorporate unique arts opportunities into their curriculum can apply for a Kentucky Arts Council Teaching Art Together grant by April 15.

The Teaching Art Together grant allows teachers across the Commonwealth to collaborate with practicing, professional artists from the Kentucky Arts Council's Teaching Artist Directory to design and implement one- to four-week residencies. These residencies can cover a multitude of topics and mediums but are established to help teachers incorporate arts into the curriculum long after the residency has ended.

"Teaching Art Together grants allow teachers and artists to bring art into the classroom in a real and educational way, "said Lori Meadows, arts council executive director. "The residencies provide hands-on experience in the classroom that may not have been available otherwise."

The Teaching Art Together grant guidelines and application can be found on the arts council website. For more information about applying, contact Jean St. John, arts education director, at 502-564-8110, ext. 486, or via email at jean.stjohn@ky.gov.

The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, creates opportunities for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.
