Daviess County Man Indicted on Child Pornography Charges

Attorney General Jack Conway today announced the indictment of a Daviess County man on 39 counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, a Class D felony. A Daviess County grand jury indicted 42-year-old Daniel Scott Neal, an English teacher and cross country coach at Hancock County High School, on November 14, 2012. An indictment warrant has been issued for Neal and Bond has been set at $120,000 cash.

The charges against Neal are the result of an undercover investigation by General Conway's Cybercrimes Unit that began on May 2, 2012. A search warrant was executed at Neal's Owensboro, Ky. home on May 17, 2012, at which time investigators seized 460 suspected child pornographic videos and images.

Prosecution of this case is being handled by the Office of Bruce Kuegel, Commonwealth's Attorney for the 6th Judicial Circuit representing Daviess County.

Since its creation in June of 2008, General Conway's Cybercrimes Unit has launched approximately 300 child pornography investigations and seized more than 350,000 child pornographic images and videos from the Internet. The unit is also a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
