FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky book maker Mary Kinney, of Westport, has been selected as the Kentucky Arts Council's featured artist for April.

Kinney, who works from her home studio in Westport, designs and hand-binds books, journals and more, and has recently begun making her own paper. Using old magazine covers and clippings for cover inspiration, Kinney produces each work one at a time to ensure it will be a special and unique gift or purchase.

To see Kinney's work, visit the arts council's website at artscouncil.ky.gov. The feature page includes:

  • A story about Kinney's work.
  • A video of Kinney discussing her work.
  • A portfolio of her work in the Kentucky Crafted Directory.
  • Contact information for the artist.

The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, creates opportunities for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.
