FRANKFORT, Ky. — Artists in the Kentucky Crafted program and Architectural Artists Directory are participating in special events and sharing work in their studios, galleries and showrooms during holiday open houses, exhibits and tours starting in early November and running throughout the holiday season.

Shoppers looking for that extra-special or unique gift will have an endless bounty of handcrafted items to choose from with more than 20 events scattered across the Commonwealth featuring more than 70 artists.

Paintings, prints, handmade purses, pottery, glasswork, furniture, sculpture, woodwork, photography, fashion and more can be found during the holiday happenings. The items are made by some of Kentucky's most notable artists who are juried participants in the Kentucky Arts Council's Kentucky Crafted program and the Architectural Artists Directory.

"The holidays are the perfect time to get acquainted with the work of Kentucky artists," said Lori Meadows, executive director of the arts council. "Handmade gifts are extraordinary to both give and receive. When you give a gift from a Kentucky Crafted or architectural artist, you give quality craftsmanship and artistic excellence – and you also help support the arts in Kentucky."
