UNION, Ky. – Big Bone Lick State Park and the Friends of Big Bone will hold a special event on Sept. 19 at 3:30 p.m. to unveil new interpretive signs for the Big Bone Creek Trail.


The event will be held at the park’s visitor center at 3380 Beaver Road in Union. Scientists and experts will offer brief walks to explain the interpretive signs and refreshments will follow.


There will also be an announcement by Parks Commissioner Elaine Walker regarding the park and efforts to recognize and market its historical importance.




The Kentucky State Park System is composed of 49 state parks plus an interstate park shared with Virginia. The Department of Parks, an agency of the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet, operates 17 resort parks with lodges -- more than any other state.
