State Park Surplus Sale at E.P. ‘Tom’ Sawyer State Park Dec. 10

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Kentucky Department of Parks will be holding a state surplus sale on Dec. 10 at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer Park in Louisville.

 

Bids maybe submitted anytime from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the day of the sale.

 

Highlighted items in this sale include the following:  Regency and Empire style brass and crystal chandeliers in 4-, 6-, 12-,18- and 20-light; penny- farthing, high-wheeled bicycle circa 1890; Michaux-type velocipede “bone-shaker” bicycle circa 1865; Regency and  Louis XV style furniture and clock; transfer ware; commemorative and advertising china;  glassware cellars, shakers, lamps and pressed ware; old sporting shotguns, rifles and 20th-century bayonets;  Southwestern Native American pottery, rug, basket and bead ware; wooden wheeled canoe form baby buggy; two antique battery-operated cars; rugs and miscellaneous artifacts, including several excellent mechanical banks.

Items will be sold on a “spot bid” basis in which bidders submit sealed bids. The sale, which will be administered with assistance from the Division of Surplus Property, will last from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and bids can be submitted anytime during that period.

 

Cash, cashier’s checks, certified checks, traveler’s checks and money orders and credit cards will be accepted. Personal checks must be drawn on in state banks with proper identification and under $5,000. Personal checks over $5,000 must be accompanied by a letter of credit. The winning bidder is responsible for moving the items the day of the sale.

Proceeds will go to the conservation and improvement of current state park museum collections.

 

To visit E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park, take the Gene Snyder Freeway (Interstate 265) to Exit 32. Go west on Westport Road to Freys Hill Road. Take Freys Hill Road into the park.
