Nonprofit health provider operates more than 200 locations in Kentucky, Indiana
FRANKFORT Ky. (Jan. 31, 2013) – Governor Steve Beshear today announced KentuckyOne Health plans to locate its headquarters in Louisville, adding 10 new, full-time jobs and investing $5.5 million in the project.
“KentuckyOne Health is committed to helping improve the health and wellbeing of every Kentuckian, and today’s announcement furthers this goal,” said Gov. Beshear. “Kentucky and Louisville are great places to do business and establish headquarters. This is a great day for KentuckyOne Health and the Commonwealth.”
KentuckyOne Health is an integrated comprehensive health system, a single organization with many facilities, services and providers. KentuckyOne Health includes hospitals, clinics, specialty institutions, home health agencies, satellite primary care centers and physician groups with more than 200 locations combined and a medical staff of 3,600 physicians across the Commonwealth.
“Downtown Louisville is the right choice for our headquarters for a number of reasons, including the proximity to several of our Louisville facilities; easy access to other areas in the Commonwealth; convenient access to the Louisville International Airport and a location in the largest city in the Commonwealth,” said Ruth W. Brinkley, president and CEO of KentuckyOne Health. “In addition, the Jewish Hospital Medical Plaza is already one of our owned assets, which made it a financially viable option. The alignment of our recently announced partnership with the University of Louisville Hospital James Graham Brown Cancer Center is another reason why this is the right decision.”
To encourage the investment and job growth in Louisville, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved the company for tax incentives up to $240,000 through the Kentucky Business Investment program. The performance-based incentive allows a company to keep a portion of its investment over the term of the agreement through corporate income tax credits and wage assessments by meeting job and investment targets.
“This is an exciting investment in Louisville by KentuckyOne Health,” said Sen. Gerald Neal, of Louisville. “Our city will reap the benefits of new jobs, as well as economic growth and development. The decision by KentuckyOne Health to locate its headquarters here speaks well of our workforce. I applaud Gov. Beshear for taking the lead to support this industry, their employees and their families.”
“We have a strong reputation nationally for bringing various faith-based and state healthcare resources together, and companies like KentuckyOne Health personify that powerful partnership,” said Rep. Tom Riner, of Louisville. “The decision to locate its headquarters in Louisville is certainly great news, and I’m pleased that our local and state officials could work together to help make this happen.”
“The continued growth of KentuckyOne Health reinforces Louisville’s global reputation as the premier city for healthcare companies to locate in and flourish,” said Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer. “It also validates our laser-like focus on growing the lifelong wellness and aging-care sector of our economy to provide better job opportunities for our citizens and attract new talent to our city.”
“Today’s announcement is exciting news for Louisville’s health care community,” said Craig J. Richard, president and CEO of Greater Louisville Inc. “KentuckyOne Health’s additional investment is a win for our downtown medical campus and further strengthens our position as a leader in the health care industry.”
