Attorney General Jack Conway today announced the indictment of a deputy jailer in the Madison County Detention Center on a charge of official misconduct. A Madison County grand jury indicted Lt. Jamie Lee Wynn yesterday on one count of first degree official misconduct, a Class A misdemeanor. The indictment is the result of an investigation by General Conway's Department of Criminal Investigations.
The Attorney General's investigation of Wynn began in September 2012 after a complaint from the Fayette County Attorney's Office. Wynn allegedly failed to exercise his official duties following the arrest of his son, Jonothan L. Wynn, on Fayette County charges.
An investigation of Jamie Wynn by the Fayette County Attorney's Office is ongoing.
Prosecution of this case is being handled by the Mason County Attorney's Office, appointed as a special prosecutor.
A charge is merely an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
