CADIZ, Ky. – Lake Barkley State Resort Park and community volunteers will hold a “Pass It On” Volunteer Day on Saturday, May 18, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Lunch will be provided to volunteers. The park and volunteer groups have identified dozens of projects around the park. They include landscaping, picking up trails, painting, cleaning and more. This is also a good opportunity for youth and civic organizations interested in service work.

The event sponsors, besides the park, include Leadership Trigg, Friends of Lake Barkley and the Trigg County Chamber of Commerce. The goal is to have 2,500 hours of volunteer work at the park.

Volunteer registration forms are required and are available at the park, local businesses and government offices for those interested. The form should be returned by May 10. Volunteers also may call the park at 270-924-1131 for information.

The Kentucky State Park System is composed of 49 state parks plus an interstate park shared with Virginia. The Department of Parks, an agency of the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet, operates 17 resort parks with lodges -- more than any other state.
