Today, the State Board of Elections certified vote totals from the May 20th Primary Election and issued certificates of nomination to candidates who received the highest number of votes in the Primary. Detailed results from the election are available at www.elect.ky.gov.
More than 836,000 Kentuckians, approximately 27 percent of registered voters, cast ballots in the Primary. “Kentucky is at its best when everyone’s voice is heard,” said Alison Lundergan Grimes, Kentucky’s Secretary of State and Chief Election Official. “As I predicted, turnout in this year’s Primary Election was lower than in 2010, when county offices were last on the ballot. But I’m excited that a record number of Kentuckians are now registered to vote, and I hope more voters will participate in the November General Election.”
“I’m grateful to all of the elected officials and thousands of citizens who worked hard to ensure the integrity of the May Primary,” said Grimes. “I look forward to continuing to work together to prepare for the General Election on November 4th.”
