Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes
On May 7, 2013, Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes presented a $600 cash prize to Victoria Kelly Brunson, a seventh-grade student at Northern Middle School in Pulaski County, for winning second place in Grimes’ office’s annual slogan contest. The slogan contest was created in 1988 to inspire students to be active and informed citizens, with particular emphasis on election-related issues.
Brunson’s slogan, “Be the change, to see the change. VOTE!” placed second in an online poll. Grimes presented Brunson’s award in a ceremony attended by Brunson’s classmates, congratulating Brunson on her achievement and thanking her for helping spread the important message that every Kentuckian’s voice matters.
“Kentucky is at its best when everyone is engaged,” said Grimes. “It’s great to have students like Kelly encouraging people to participate in the process.”
