Gov. Bevin Makes Appointments to Kentucky Board of Hairdressers and Cosmetologists

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 1, 2017) – Gov. Matt Bevin has made the following appointments to Kentucky Boards and Commissions:

Jani Crouch Highley, Jeanetta Thornbury and Regina Kay Swanner have been appointed to the Kentucky Board of Hairdressers and Cosmetologists.

  • Jani Crouch Highley, of Mount Sterling, is lead cosmetologist instructor at Employment Solutions. Highley shall serve for a term expiring Feb. 1, 2019. She will be representing cosmetology salon owners.
  • Jeanetta Thornbury, of Paintsville, is a hairdresser at South Eastern Beauty Salon. Thornbury shall serve for a term expiring Feb. 1, 2019. She will be representing cosmetology school owners.
  • Regina Kay Swanner, of East Bernstadt, is a cosmetology instructor at Somerset Community College. Swanner shall serve for a term expiring Feb. 1, 2019. She will be representing cosmetology teachers.

The Kentucky Board of Hairdressers and Cosmetologists is made up of five gubernatorial appointees. The Board conducts periodic inspections of beauty salons and beauty schools in assigned areas, determines whether each individual and business has the required license, investigates complaints regarding individuals without a license or in violation of the law, and inspects premises of salons and schools to determine compliance with sanitary standards and physical requirements as established by the Board.
