Gov. Bevin Makes Appointments to Kentucky State Corrections Commission

FRANKFORT, Ky. (April 19, 2017) – Gov. Matt Bevin has made the following appointments to Kentucky Boards and Commissions:

Jerome S. Melton, Derek Langdon Combs, Joseph Daniel Jones, Barbara Ann Ellerbrook, Paula Ratliff Pedigo, Charles Ray Smith, James William Gibson and Edward Malone Bourne Jr. have been appointed to the Kentucky State Corrections Commission.

  • Jerome S. Melton, of Glasgow, is retired. Melton will represent members at-large. He shall serve for a term expiring February 17, 2020.
  • Derek Langdon Combs, of Lexington, is a trainer at the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Combs will represent members at-large. He shall serve for a term expiring February 17, 2020.
  • Joseph Daniel Jones, of Corbin, is CEO of Cumberland River Behavioral Health. Jones will represent service providers. He shall serve for a term expiring February 17, 2020.
  • Barbara Ann Ellerbrook, of Lexington, is retired. Ellerbrook will represent service providers. She shall serve for a term expiring February 17, 2020.
  • Paula Ratliff Pedigo, of Grove, is a small business owner. Pedigo will represent business and industry. She shall serve for a term expiring February 17, 2020.
  • Charles Ray Smith, of Louisville, is an electrical engineer. Smith will represent members at-large. He shall serve for a term expiring February 17, 2020.
  • James William Gibson, of Benton, is a plumber. Gibson will represent labor. He shall serve for a term expiring February 17, 2020.
  • Edward Malone Bourne Jr., of Owenton, is a criminal defense attorney. Bourne will represent practicing attorneys. He shall serve for a term expiring February 17, 2020.

The Kentucky State Corrections Commission is charged with awarding all grant money to community corrections programs, along with developing and implementing a statewide strategic plan for community corrections programs. The Commission is also responsible for establishing the Parole Board Nominating Committee.
