FRANKFORT, Ky. (March 9, 2018) – Gov. Matt Bevin and First Lady Glenna Bevin remind Kentuckians that tomorrow is the deadline to bid on the opportunity to push the ceremonial plunger to implode Frankfort's 28-story Capital Plaza Tower on Sunday, March 11. Online bidding to help set off the controlled demolition will end at 5:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 10.
The winning bid is tax deductible and will benefit the First Lady’s foundation, #WeAreKY! Inc., that works to support the Commonwealth’s most vulnerable children through foster care and adoption initiatives.
“This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime chance to do something that will transform not just the landscape, but lives in Kentucky for years to come,” said Gov. Bevin. “Whether you are an individual or a corporation, we encourage you to bid generously. You can bring down a building and build up our families.”
The winner of the auction will receive two complimentary tickets to a special luncheon hosted by the #WeAreKY! Foundation on Sunday, and a front-row seat to history. He/she will join Gov. Bevin and state and local officials onstage during pre-implosion festivities, before initiating the dramatic collapse of the 330-foot office tower at 1:30 p.m. ET.
