Medicaid Fraud & Abuse Control Division
The Attorney General's Office believes that every patient in a nursing home, Medicaid facility, or personal care home deserves to be treated with dignity and respect and should be free from patient abuse, neglect or exploitation. Instances of abuse will be investigated, and when appropriate, prosecuted. Another important goal of the Attorney General's Office is to ensure the financial integrity of the Kentucky Medical Assistance Program through the investigation and prosecution of healthcare providers who fraudulently bill or abuse the Medicaid system.
The Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit ranks 9th in the nation for multistate funds recovered from Medicaid providers in 2004, recovering $17.3 million of taxpayer funds.
