Welcome to the Kentucky Department of Public Protection
The Department of Public Protection has the dual mission of promoting economic opportunity and protecting public safety and financial security by ensuring that marketplaces thrive in a well-regulated environment. The department is comprised of 11 agencies. These varied agencies all share a common commitment to elevating the quality of life of all Kentuckians.
Our 800 employees touch the lives of many Kentucky citizens. If your money is deposited into a state bank or other financial institution, if you have ever watched a horse race, purchased an insurance policy or played a bingo game sponsored by a local charitable group, you have benefited from our work. If you have ever appealed a property tax assessment or applied for a building permit, you have dealt with one of our agencies.
As diverse as our agencies are, we have one common goal: to provide outstanding customer service to every citizen and business that we serve. As commissioner, that is my primary mission.
On behalf of the dedicated employees of the Department of Public Protection, I thank you for the opportunity to serve our great commonwealth.
