FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 5, 2018) – Gov. Matt Bevin has appointed Shawn Conley, of West Liberty, as Magistrate for the First District of Morgan County. Conley’s appointment fills the vacancy left by the passing of Denzil Potter last month.
Conley is an active member of his community. He is a science teacher at Morgan County High School and serves as head football coach for Morgan County Middle School. In addition to his involvement with local youth athletics programs, Conley also operates a small lawn care business.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Gov. Bevin for appointing me as interim magistrate of District 1 in Morgan County following the unfortunate passing of Denzil Potter,” said Conley. “Denzil will be sorely missed and leaves big shoes to fill, but I am eager and excited to finish out his magisterial term. I hope that I get the opportunity to continue representing and serving the people of District 1 and Morgan County for years to come. I am proud to be from Morgan County and I am delighted to have the opportunity to serve.”
This appointment will take effect immediately. Conley will serve until the position is filled in accordance with the results of the November 2018 midterm election, pursuant to the provisions of Section 152 of the Kentucky Constitution.
