FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 16, 2019) – Gov. Matt Bevin has appointed Edward (Ed) Wayne West, of Rumsey, as County Judge/Executive of McLean County.
A graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in Police Administration, West dedicated his career to public service, serving as a correctional officer, highway safety coordinator, and as a field representative for U.S. Congressman Ed Whitfield from 2001 to 2016. Additionally, he is an agriculturalist and has managed his family’s farm since 1989.
"I am both honored and humbled to have been appointed by Governor Bevin, and I look forward to bringing what I have learned through my 20 years of experience in public service to my new role as McLean County Judge/Executive," said West. "Earning the trust and support of the community as we work toward the betterment of McLean County is my top priority, including fighting for better paying jobs and a financially sound county government, especially so that our children may choose to live, work, worship and raise their families right here at home."
West is a lifelong resident of McLean County whose family originally settled in the area in the late 1700s. He and his wife Crystal are the parents of three children: Eden, Conan, and Wyatt.
He will serve until this position is filled in accordance with the results of the November 2019 general election, pursuant to the provisions of Section 152 of the Kentucky Constitution.
