Matthew Hayes Promoted to Assistant Supervisor at District 18

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Aug. 10, 2021) – Kentucky Department of Corrections Division of Probation and Parole Director Erica Hargis announced today the promotion of Matthew Hayes to assistant supervisor in District 18. District 18 is located in southwest Jefferson County.

“Hayes is a natural leader that without doubt is committed to the success of his team,” said Hargis. “Hayes has the heart of a servant, and an overall attitude that supports the Division’s reentry philosophy. I am so proud to be able to make this announcement today and welcome Hayes to our leadership team, and I am confident that he will be well-suited for this new path and will help propel District 18 to the next level.”

Hayes began his career with the Department of Corrections in 2008 as a probation and parole officer in District 18. During his career, he has served in many roles within the Division of Probation and Parole. Hayes has served as a field training officer, a Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) facilitator, and a Thinking for a Change facilitator. In addition to his current experience supervising a parole caseload, he has previously supervised sex offender, interstate compact and general felony caseloads. Recently, he made significant contributions to maintaining district operations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hayes graduated from the University of Louisville in 2006 with a degree in justice administration. He is the recipient of a 2011 and 2020 district Achievement Award, a 2018 graduate of the I-LEAD program, and a graduate of the 2013 Commissioner’s Executive Leadership Program.
