Treasurer Metcalf Joins Coalition to Advance Kentucky’s Energy Security

FRANKFORT, Ky (August 27, 2025) - Kentucky State Treasurer Mark H. Metcalf today announced that he has joined Dependable Power First Kentucky, a coalition dedicated to strengthening the Commonwealth’s energy security and economic well-being by advocating for an all-of-the-above approach to power generation.

The coalition works to ensure Kentuckians have access to reliable, affordable energy by leveraging the strengths of all available resources—including coal, natural gas, renewables, and emerging technologies.

“Reliable energy is the backbone of Kentucky’s economy,” Treasurer Metcalf said. “From powering our homes to supporting good-paying jobs, dependable energy keeps Kentucky working. By supporting an all-of-the-above energy strategy, we protect our state’s prosperity today and secure opportunity for future generations.”

Treasurer Metcalf emphasized that Kentucky’s unique energy mix has long been one of the state’s greatest economic advantages, keeping costs low for families and businesses while creating thousands of jobs. He noted that maintaining energy independence and resiliency is critical to safeguarding the financial health of Kentucky’s families and communities.

“Joining this coalition allows my office to stand with leaders from across the Commonwealth to protect affordable energy, support Kentucky workers, and defend our state’s economic security,” Metcalf added.

Dependable Power First Kentucky brings together policymakers, industry partners, and community leaders committed to advancing policies that strengthen Kentucky’s power grid and promote growth across every region of the state.
