FRANKFORT, Ky. (June 11, 2019) – New park managers have been named at Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park and Mineral Mound State Park, Parks Commissioner Donnie Holland announced today.
Chris Fugate has been promoted to the park manager position at Buckhorn Lake. Fugate, a state park veteran of more than 20 years, began at Pine Mountain State Resort Park as a cook and transitioned to the position of a chef at Buckhorn Lake in 2008.
Since 2012, Fugate has been the chef at Cumberland Falls State Resort Park. Fugate is from Bell County.
Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park in Perry County has a lodge, cottages, restaurant, marina and other recreational activities.
Chris Cary is the new park manager at Mineral Mound State Park near Eddyville. Cary, a native of Central City, worked the last 18 years managing two municipal golf courses for Owensboro Parks and Recreation. He also worked as a recreation facilities manager for Owensboro for four years and is a certified parks and recreation professional through the National Recreation and Parks Association.
Cary coached golf at Kentucky Wesleyan College for six years and has been a high school basketball referee for 22 years.
Mineral Mound State Park includes a scenic 18-hole golf course that sits along Lake Barkley.
