The Division of Workers' Compensation Funds ( formerly the Division of the Special Fund) is responsible for the administration of the Special Fund. In some cases the Special Fund is liable for part of the income benefits awarded for occupational injuries and diseases resulting from incidents or last exposures occurring prior to December 12, 1996. The Division pays about $50 million per year in total benefits to approximately 5,000 disabled workers or surviving dependents.
