FRANKFORT, Ky. (November 23, 2022) – Attorney General Daniel Cameron today issued a statement regarding the Kentucky Bankers Association (KBA) lawsuit. Last month, Attorney General Cameron joined a coalition of attorneys general in an investigation into alleged consumer protection law violations related to ESG investment practices of six major, national banks. Earlier this month, the KBA sued Attorney General Cameron’s office to thwart the investigation.
The Attorney General’s statement is as follows:
“Every day our office stands up for the economic security of Kentucky businesses. Recently, we asked six large banks that provide financial services in Kentucky to share with us information concerning their investment practices. We have asked for that information to ensure that those financial institutions are not withholding services from Kentucky businesses that don’t agree with the Biden administration’s climate agenda or the ESG movement.
Because our office has asked for this information, the Kentucky Bankers Association has sued us. Today, we filed a motion in federal court to dismiss that lawsuit. Our office will always advocate for the economic well-being of Kentuckians. This is a duty we do not take lightly. We hope to hear from the court soon.”
