Attorney General Cameron Announces Trimble County Man Convicted of Rape

FRANKFORT, Ky. (November 20, 2023) – Attorney General Daniel Cameron today announced that action taken by his Special Prosecutions Unit resulted in the conviction of Darrin Owens, 39, on sexual assault charges. According to court documents, Owens repeatedly sodomized and raped a 13-year-old child.

On November 16, 2023, a Trimble County jury convicted Owens of two counts of Sodomy Second Degree (Class C Felony), one count of Rape Second Degree (Class C felony), and one count of Persistent Felony Offender (Felony Enhancement).

The jury recommended a sentence of 20 years on each count, to be served concurrently. The case was investigated by Oldham County Police Department Sergeant Jared Ellison and prosecuted by Executive Director of the Office of Special Prosecutions Rewa Zakharia. Assistant Attorney General Ramsey Dallam presented the case on behalf of the Commonwealth.

Owens is facing multiple indictments in Oldham and Henry Counties related to this case.

The charges in the pending indictments are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
