Attorney General Coleman Protects Kentuckians’ Eye Health

FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 10, 2024) – Attorney General Russell Coleman announced the settlement of an investigation into Warby Parker, a prescription glasses, contact lens and sunglasses retailer. The company offered online vision tests, which the Attorney General’s Office alleged violated Kentucky’s Consumer Protection in Eye Care Act. From July to October 2021, the Attorney General’s Office alleges that 69 Kentuckians were improperly given Warby Parker’s online vision test.

When the Attorney General’s Office of Consumer Protection alerted Warby Parker of the problem, the company cooperated with the investigation and took the test offline. Following a voluntary settlement process, Warby Parker will be penalized $138,000. If there are no further violations for five years, the amount will be reduced to $55,200.

“Every day, the dedicated team in the Attorney General’s Office is protecting Kentucky consumers. We’re proud to stand up for your families and your hard-earned money,” said Attorney General Coleman.

Kentucky consumers with a complaint about any business operating in the Commonwealth should contact the Attorney General’s Office at https://www.ag.ky.gov/Resources/Consumer-Resources/Consumers/Pages/Consumer-Complaints.aspx.
