Jefferson Circuit Court Upholds Pro-Life Laws, AG Coleman Announces

Court calls concerns about IVF restrictions ‘misplaced’

FRANKFORT, Ky. (June 28, 2024) – Attorney General Russell Coleman announced today that the Jefferson County Circuit Court denied a challenge to Kentucky’s pro-life laws. The Attorney General’s Office of Civil and Environmental Law defended the constitutionality of the Kentucky statutes in Sobel v. Cameron.

“We applaud the Court’s decision to uphold Kentucky law,” said Attorney General Coleman. “Most importantly, the Court eliminates any notion that access to IVF services in our Commonwealth is at risk. Today’s opinion is a welcome reassurance to the many Kentuckians seeking to become parents.”

Assistant Attorney General Lindsey Keiser presented the Commonwealth’s case before the Jefferson Circuit Court with the assistance of General Counsel Christopher Thacker.
