Attorney General Coleman Announces Arrest of Former Lexington Pastor for Rape and Sexual Abuse of a Minor

FRANKFORT, Ky. (July 2, 2024) – Attorney General Russell Coleman announced today that action by the Attorney General’s Department of Criminal Investigations (DCI) resulted in the arrest of Zachary King, 47, former executive pastor of LexCity Church, for rape and sexual abuse of a minor as well as the unlawful use of electronics to engage in sexual acts with a minor.

King was arraigned in Fayette County this afternoon. His bond was set at $250,000, and he will next appear in court for a preliminary hearing on July 5, 2024.

The Attorney General’s DCI investigated the case with support from the Lexington Police Department. Assistant Attorney General Todd Willard with the Special Prosecutions Unit will present the case to the Fayette County Grand Jury on behalf of the Commonwealth in collaboration with the Fayette County Commonwealth’s Attorney Office.

The charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
