FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 26, 2024) – Attorney General Russell Coleman and Commonwealth’s Attorney for the 51st Judicial Circuit Herb McKee announced today that joint action by the Attorney General’s Violent Crime Resource Prosecutor and the Commonwealth’s Attorney Office resulted in a life without parole sentence for Kenneth Gibbs, 39, of Henderson County.
Gibbs was convicted of murdering two fellow residents at the Harbor House Christian Men’s Center, where he had stayed for approximately a year after release from a previous charge.
On August 5, 2024, Gibbs pleaded guilty to two counts of Murder and three counts of Criminal Attempted Murder. Gibbs received two sentences of life without parole, plus 10 years on each attempted murder charge to run concurrently.
“There is no place in our community for this type of deadly violence. Together with co-counsel from the Attorney General’s Office, we delivered a just result in this case that will protect our families and provide needed closure for our community,” said Commonwealth’s Attorney McKee.
“This offender was a danger to Henderson County and our Commonwealth, and now he will spend the rest of his life behind bars. I’m grateful for the zealous collaboration of Commonwealth’s Attorney McKee in prosecuting this violent criminal to keep this community safe,” said Attorney General Coleman.
Henderson Police Department Lead Detective Jake Isonhood investigated the case. Commonwealth’s Attorney Herb McKee and the Attorney General’s Violent Crime Resource Prosecutor Tom Lockridge prosecuted the case on behalf of the Commonwealth.
