AG Coleman Encourages Prevention & Recovery Professionals to Attend 2025 Kentucky Opioid Symposium

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 24, 2025) – Attorney General Russell Coleman and the Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission (KYOAAC) announced only 100 tickets remain for the 2025 Kentucky Opioid Symposium. The premier event hosted October 13-14, 2025, at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville will bring together experts, advocates and practitioners for presentations on best practices in treatment, prevention, recovery and grant writing.

This year’s Symposium is growing from last year’s sell-out crowd of 450 to more than 600 participants. One of the highlights of the event is the Grantee Showcase – where those awarded grants in 2024 will display information about the work they’ve been able to do with opioid settlement funds from the Commission. Since awarding funds, more than $85 million has been distributed across the Commonwealth and the Symposium honors the work being done with those dollars in treatment, recovery, and prevention efforts.

Those interested in learning more about the Commonwealth’s comprehensive response to the opioid-fueled drug crisis and partnering with the Commission are encouraged to attend. Along with several speakers from in and around the professional community the Symposium will also offer 100+ CEU (continuing education units/hours) from 10 different boards and specialties. Grant writing specialists will also be providing sessions to support those applying to the Commission.

Speakers will include:

  • Attorney General Russell Coleman,
  • KYOAAC Executive Director Chris Evans,
  • One of the country’s leading experts on the epidemiology of street drugs Dr. Nabarun Dasgupta
  • And more.

Tickets are extremely limited and are selling quickly. Interested attendees are encouraged to secure their spot now. Registration information and a full agenda are available online here.

“The annual Kentucky Opioid Symposium is the best place to connect with providers and decisionmakers who are working to save lives from the scourge of addiction,” said Attorney General Coleman. “We are proud to work with the Opioid Abatement Commission to host this can’t-miss event about the future of recovery in Kentucky.”

“We are excited about the presenters we have assembled for this year’s Symposium, and the opportunity attendees will have to learn about efforts being done across Kentucky and the nation to address the opioid crisis,” said KYOAAC Director Chris Evans. “This gathering continues the Commission’s efforts to support treatment providers, peer support specialist, first responders, educators, case managers and local government officials in their critical work to support families and save lives in the Commonwealth.”
