AG Coleman Delivers Another Medicaid Fraud Conviction, $30,000 Restitution

FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 15, 2026)-- Attorney General Russell Coleman announced today that an investigation by the Attorney General’s Office led to the conviction of a southern Indiana man for fraud against the Kentucky Medicaid Program.

On May 15, 2026, Gary L. Waldman, 58, of Salem, Indiana was sentenced for a felony related to defrauding Kentucky’s Medicaid program. According to the Office’s investigation, Waldman defrauded the Kentucky Medicaid Program of nearly $30,000.00 by submitting fraudulent timesheets to Kentucky’s Cabinet for Health and Family Services.

Waldman was sentenced by the Franklin County Circuit Court for one count of Devising or Engaging in a Scheme to Defraud Kentucky's Medical Assistance Program (KMAP) over $1000 (Class D Felony). As part of Waldman’s sentence, he was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $29,718.92.

“Our Office is laser-focused on investigating and prosecuting those who take advantage of the vital Medicaid program and defraud our Commonwealth,” said Attorney General Coleman. “Kentucky will not turn a blind eye to this conduct.”

The Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Control investigated the case. Assistant Attorney General Michael Brophy prosecuted the case on behalf of the Commonwealth.
