Department of Corrections Deputy Commissioner Randy White announced today that Jon Tangerose has been promoted to deputy warden at Western Kentucky Correctional Complex (WKCC) in Fredonia. His new position was effective Sept. 1.
“Jon Tangerose is a highly dedicated and seasoned employee possessing the correctional background we are looking for in our top administrators,” said White. “His commitment to the department combined with his years of supervisory experience in programs and security has prepared him well for this next step in his career.”
Tangerose began his career with the Department of Corrections in November 2008 as a correctional officer at WKCC. He promoted to sergeant in 2010, to lieutenant in 2013 and then to unit administrator II in 2015. His most recent assignment has been overseeing the institution’s restrictive housing unit and the transition unit.
During his correctional career, he has served on the Corrections Emergency Response Team (CERT) and has acted as commander of the K-9 Unit. He has been recognized with numerous awards during his career, including supervisor of the quarter. Tangerose was also selected as a recipient of the 2012 WKCC Achievement Award and is a graduate of the Commissioner’s Executive Leadership Program.
Tangerose is a graduate of Full Sail University, an accredited school through the University of Central Florida, with a degree in computer animation
