Kentucky Department of Corrections Adult Institutions Branch Manager Debbie Kays announced today the promotion of Ashley Short to program administrator in the Office of Adult Institutions located in Central Office.
“Short’s attention to detail and commitment to the department and its mission proves her to be a corrections professional,” said Kays. “Her dedication and knowledge of the policy and procedure process makes her a valuable asset to Adult Institutions.”
Short began her career with the Department of Corrections in Offender Information Services as an offender records specialist I in March 2012. She promoted to parole board specialist I in the Office of the Parole Board later that year. There she was responsible for completing an assigned caseload of parole risk and needs assessments for parole eligible offenders, as well as processing the return of parole violators.
In 2017, she promoted to procedures development coordinator for the Office of Adult Institutions. She has spent the past two years responsible for the development, revision and procedural review of all of the department’s policies and procedures. Short facilitates the procedural process through the Justice Cabinet Legal Services Department and the Legislative Research Commission.
A 2001 graduate of the University of Kentucky, Short earned a bachelor’s degree in social work. She is currently participating in the 2018 Commissioner’s Executive Leadership Program.
