Tim Baker Selected as Emergency Management Program Administrator

Kentucky Department of Corrections Deputy Commissioner Randy White announced today that Tim Baker has been selected as a program administrator with the department’s Emergency Management. Baker recently retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons after 25 years of government service.

“Tim Baker brings to the DOC a wealth of experience and knowledge, as well as advanced instructor experience in various emergency management topics,” said White. “Baker will no doubt provide a fresh set of eyes for forward development and improved emergency preparedness within our department.”

After graduating from Eastern Kentucky University in 1991, he began his career in Corrections as a state probation and parole officer in Lexington. In 1993, he was hired as a correctional officer at the federal prison in Lexington.  He was promoted to case manager in 1996, which allowed him to focus on his additional duties as a Disturbance Control Team (DCT) instructor and firearms instructor.  Soon thereafter, he was selected as the lead instructor for both DCT and firearms, overseeing these programs at his institution.

Baker has completed training with the FBI in firearms as well as tactical survival and skills training.  He was selected as a regional instructor of Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TC3) and mass casualty training, which he instructed across the nation at regional crisis management trainings.
