Jonathan Staples Promoted to District 13 Assistant Supervisor

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Nov. 12, 2021) – Kentucky Department of Corrections Probation and Parole Director Erica Hargis announced today the promotion of Jonathan Staples to assistant supervisor in District 13. District 13 covers Crittenden, Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Muhlenberg, Ohio, Union, and Webster counties.

“Jonathan Staples is a career employee who exemplifies being a team player. His vast knowledge of the division and his positive attitude are perfect for this role,” said Hargis. “He brings prior supervisory experience that will serve him and his team well. His hard work and personal integrity have not gone unnoticed and are appreciated by his co-workers and supervisors alike.” 

Staples began his career with the Department of Corrections in 2015 as a probation and parole officer in the Owensboro office. He has supervised a regular caseload and most recently served as a sex offender officer for Daviess County. In 2017, Staples acted as the interim reentry officer for District 13 and facilitated moral reconation therapy. He also assisted the Green River Reentry Council with expungement fairs and job fairs.

In addition to being a trainer for the integration of the KyRAS assessment tool, Staples has served as a field training officer, firearms instructor, and district armorer as well. He was a member of the 2018 and 2019 ACA mock audit teams for the western region. 

Staples is a 2019 graduate of the Western Region LEAD program and the recipient of the 2020 District 13 Achievement Award. Previously having served active duty in the United States Marine Corps, Staples currently serves in the Army Reserves. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky University.
