FRANKFORT, Ky. (June 8, 2023) – Department of Corrections (DOC) Probation and Parole Division Director Erica Hargis today announced the promotion of Dan Paulson to assistant supervisor in District 7. District 7 covers Boone, Campbell and Kenton counties.
“Daniel Paulson already plays a vital role in the daily operations of District 7,” said Hargis. “During his service with the division, he has maintained a regular caseload and specialty caseloads. His extensive knowledge, especially with the sex offender caseload, will continue to be invaluable. He continues to learn and assist co-workers whenever possible and has earned the respect of everyone he works with.”
Paulson began his career with the DOC in 2017 as a probation and parole officer in District 7, managing a regular felony caseload and a sex offender caseload. Last year, he took on the new role as a mandatory reentry supervision and parole intake officer. In addition to serving as a field training officer, Paulson acts as the district’s firearms instructor and OSHA safety officer.
Prior to beginning his career with the DOC, Paulson worked for over two years as a home detention officer in McHenry County, Illinois where he earned a distinguished service award in 2016.
Paulson graduated from Western Illinois University in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement and justice administration. In 2022, he was the recipient of the DOC Achievement Award for District 7 and was named Officer of the Year by the Kentucky Council on Crime and Delinquency.
