Frankfort, Ky. (July 6, 2023) – Roederer Correctional Complex (RCC) received a near perfect score of 99.04% on their recent re-accreditation audit with the American Correctional Association (ACA). RCC has been an accredited institution with the ACA for 37 years, having its original accreditation audit in 1986.
RCC is a medium-security prison in LaGrange and houses 1,238 inmates.
“I am very proud of RCC on achieving a high score on their recent ACA audit,” said Deputy Commissioner Randy White. “This achievement is a testament to the diligence and hard work of the RCC leadership and employees. The facility has faced and prevailed over many recent challenges, including an ongoing significant kitchen renovation project, staffing shortages, as well as managing constant operations as DOC’s male intake and reception center during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. To meet these challenges while maintaining well over 500 ACA-reviewed practices daily is quite an accomplishment.”
In announcing the scores, audit chairperson Norma Gillom was especially complimentary of the exceptional leadership, teamwork, and pride that the staff demonstrated in the performance of their duties.
“We cannot express how thankful we are for being here,” said Gillom. “I especially want to give high praises to the mailroom staff and the legal portal system. Excellent job.”
RCC Warden Ravonne Sims praised her staff for the accomplishment. “As the incoming warden, I am honored to walk into a freshly audited and high-performing prison,” said Sims. “Through outgoing Warden Jessie Ferguson’s leadership and excellent staff, it is apparent this is a very well-run operation in every department, and I am fortunate to assume this role.”
This ACA accreditation consisted of approximately 573 standards that covered the security, operational, and programming aspects of the prison. Each of Kentucky’s prisons are audited by the ACA every three years and have a program security review every year. Kentucky has been a member of the ACA since the early 1980s.
