FRANKFORT, Ky. (Dec. 13, 2023) – Department of Corrections (DOC) Adult Institutions Director Janet Conover today announced that Cassandra Rooney has been promoted to justice program administrator for the Office of Adult Institutions. Her promotion is effective Jan. 1.
“Cassandra Rooney has demonstrated that she is a dedicated professional with a keen attention to detail,” said Conover. “Her experience, integrity and professionalism are stellar and will all serve to further the mission of the department. I am very pleased to have her join our team.”
Rooney began her career with the DOC in 2012 as a correctional officer on third shift at Northpoint Training Center. In 2016, she was promoted to a classification and treatment officer, first working in the general population dormitories, then later assigned to the special management unit. In 2019, she was promoted to procedures development specialist II. That same year she joined the Crisis Negotiation Team. In addition to her regular duties, Rooney also served on several audit teams, assisting with program security reviews and mock audits across the state.
A 2012 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, Rooney earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology. She has been a member of the Kentucky Council on Crime and Delinquency since 2015, serving as the Herrington Lake Chapter president in 2021. She is a 2016 graduate of Northpoint’s Future Leaders Program.
